Snowplow Drop Speed Adjustment Procedure [VIDEO]
Created May 6, 2022
Adjusting the drop speed of your WESTERN® snow plow is a straightforward process designed to help you regain control over how quickly your blade returns to the ground. By locating the drop speed adjustment valve on the hydraulic unit, you can fine-tune the hydraulic fluid flow to match your personal preference or specific storm conditions.
How to Adjust Your Drop Speed
- Locate the Valve: Find the drop speed adjustment valve on your hydraulic power unit. It is typically a small knob or screw designed for manual turning.
- Make Incremental Adjustments: Rotate the valve in small increments. Turning it one way will increase the drop speed, while turning it the other way will decrease it.
- Test the Setting: After each small adjustment, lower the blade to test the speed. Continue this process until the blade drops at a pace you are comfortable with.
- Maintain Control: Ensure the adjustment is not so fast that it causes the blade to “slam” onto the pavement, which can cause unnecessary wear on your equipment.
