The tarp systems are designed differently because of how you access them: the 1.5 and 2.2 cu yd models are low enough to reach from the ground when installed in the truck bed. The larger 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 cu yd units are too high when installed to safely reach from the ground. To avoid this, we offer the roll-up tarp, which allows you to safely operate and adjust the cover from the ground.

Yes, the feed gate accessory is compatible with any 1.5 cu yd or larger chain-drive MARAUDER™. It helps restrict material flow to the spinner. It is not compatible with auger models, as the design naturally limits flow through the spacing between the auger flights.

Yes, it’s compatible. We recommend locking the feed gate in the full, open position. If the gate is restricting flow in any of the closed or partially closed positions, the system will overestimate the material output and cause inaccurate application rates.

The Inverted V is used to keep the full weight of material off the drive system and ensures an even, smooth flow of material. This is most important in large capacity models (3.0 cu yd and up) and auger driven spreaders where it is a standard feature. Smaller capacity auger spreaders (less than a yard) and pintle chain driven units (under 3.0  cu yds) typically do not require this feature but have it available as an optional accessory.

While dry granular reaches up to 36′ of broadcast spread, pre-wetting material prioritizes precision over raw distance. By reducing bounce and scatter, pre-wet granular material creates a tighter, more predictable spread pattern that prevents oversalting and overlap. Because results vary based on vehicle speed, surface conditions, and material type, verify your spread width at the start of a job to ensure consistent, controlled deicing.

The pintle chain conveyor is better for sand and heavy mixed materials, optimizing the weight and volume of the heavier de-icing materials and higher application rates. The HELIXX™ auger is ideal for bulk rock salt, providing better control and precision at lower application rates.

Our spreader tub is engineered with specialized geometry to maximize natural material movement, providing a solid foundation for consistent flow. For contractors working with wet or pre-treated materials, adding a vibrator kit accessory delivers a significant performance upgrade. It ensures peak efficiency and maintains a steady flow rate, even in the most demanding conditions.

Ideally, contractors want to optimize hopper volume relative to the vehicle’s weight ratings to minimize costly refill trips. For instance, while a 1.5 cu yd spreader may require five trips to service a 30-acre route, a 2.2 cu yd unit reduces that to four, and adding a 0.5 cu yd collar allows you to finish the job in only three. Although it is vital to remember that a collar increases volume without raising the weight rating of your suspension, it remains a cost-effective way to scale capacity and grow your business without the immediate expense of a new spreader. Ultimately it comes down to the types of properties you service, how quickly you can return to your material supply, and your future business needs.
